For the family lawyers who read my blog, here's a hat tip to Bryan A. Garner, writing in the ABA Journal on the topic of how important it is to pay attention to detail when drafting motions and briefs to be submitted to a court. Garner is president of LawProse Inc. and has been the editor-in-chief of all editions of Black's Law Dictionary since 1994. He is the author of Legal Writing in Plain English.
In A Tale of 2 Associates: How polish and attention to detail can win the motion, Garner gives a real life example of the importance of writing and proof-reading effective motions and briefs. The article is well worth reading. Garner's advice is excellent.
