Reuters reported three hours ago that a spokeswoman at the Supreme Court stated that president of the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court (STF) is expected to decide the case on today, despite the court being in a holiday recess.
Brazzil Magazine reports Mendes is expected to rule on two writs of mandamus filed last Friday, one by the Attorney General of the Union (AGU) and the other by attorneys for David Goldman.
Both filings ask the highest court that the child be turned over immediately to his American father.
Mendes is on duty during this Christmas judicial recess, thus, according to a spokeperson, it is his duty to review both of the mandamus, The AGU has warned that continuing to keep Sean in Brazil is a violation of international commitments that can generate penalties against Brazil.
Wait a second: About 5 PM, The AP reports that the decision will not come until tomorrow.
The Today Show: December 22, 2009: David Goldman: "This is not a custody case, this is an abduction case." I could not agree more.
